About

Hi, my name is Galen Sterling-Smith.

The point of any blog I have ever written have taken on many different iterations and themes over the years and it’s taken me a while to come to one point. So, to help me focus, I’ve decided to write an advice blog to myself. Why to myself? Because a lot of times I need to be reminded that a situation isn’t as bad as it seems. Some times I need to be reminded that I am not overwhelmed, I can handle it and really, honestly, I’m just over reacting. I know myself and I know I have a tendency to see the glass half empty. Well, that part of my life has come to a close… or at least needs to. This blog is a reminder for me to keep that door shut and why.

Thus the name of many of the entries is “Advice You Don’t Want To Hear But Need To.” Sometimes I don’t want to be told to calm down or see the glass half full… but that doesn’t mean I don’t need to hear it.

So, if you’re reading this, hopefully some of what I have to say will speak to you and bless you in some way.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, this blog is riddled with Christian scripture because, well, without Jesus in my life, there’d be no point in reminding myself that “I am more than a conquerer”… which I am because of Him, :-)

  1. Hey Galen…I’m one of Jelisa’s regular readers. I was on Twitter just now and this tweet came up from a relationship editor at Essence…I thought of you two right away. Not that you don’t do sweet things all the time, but what girl doesn’t want to see her name in a national magazine :-) Good luck!
